The Real Housewives of Orange County, Episode 9: "Not a Good Day L.A."
You guys, we need to talk about Lizzie. Seriously. Sometimes I forget that she is even a part of the show. What did she do this episode? Judge some random beauty pageant? Talks about how she wants to have a another baby, but doesn't want to give up her career? I'm asking because I took notes and I still don't remember. Compelling stuff! To be fair, I like Lizzie. She's fun, she's pretty, she's smart. Her husband has edged out Mauricio and Eddie for hottest Housewife spouse, but if she doesn't do something to make herself stand out and fast, she'll be a one season wonder.
How could Lizzie save herself from not being asked back next season. Well, she could certainly take a page from her fellow cast mates. She could follow Vicki's lead and become an overbearing Motherzilla. I think Vicki really thinks that Ryan is moving Brianna and Troy because he wants to hurt her. I think that she is so self involved that she can't comprehend that her daughter and her husband would make life choices based on what is best for themselves, not what is best for Vicki. There was some brightness in the episode as we learned the sex of Brianna's baby via some blue balloons in a box. Another boy. Congrats, Brianna! Michael continued to be horrible and showed no joy or excitement at his sister's announcement. She could also offend people who are supposed to be her friends and then half-heartedly apologize for it. Vicki and Heather head to lunch after everyone is back from their holiday break to talk about what went down at Shannon's party. Vicki lets Heather know that she was on Heather's side and that Tamra was being ridiculous and should have been grateful that Heather invited CUT onto Good Day L.A. She also tries to apologize to Heather for snoring when she talks. It's a thing she used to do with Donn. Oh Donn. I had totally forgotten that they did that. Vicki reminds me a lot of Ramona. She does asinine, jackass stuff and sort of apologizes, but everyone knows she's going to do it again.
Lizzie could go the Heather route. She could be a stand up friend to someone, even when they don't really deserve it. She could use an opportunity that she is given to help out a friend that you stand by for no good reason. Seriously? Why does this person deserve your loyalty? You bring her on and all she does is try to act like you are the bad guy because you're changing and you don't have the time to give her the personal attention she thinks she deserves. So stupid.
Lizzie could go the Shannon Beador route and decide to have her marriage implode on national television. Look, I'll admit that I have been rough on Shannon. Her new age-y, holistic, sometimes hypocritical views have grated on my last nerve and when someone feuds with Heather, I'm automatically Team Heather Dubrow. I did feel for Shannon though when she received an e-mail from David suggesting that they spend some time apart. Was I surprised? Absolutely not and no one who has been watching the show this season should be surprised either. What did surprise me was that out of all the ladies she could have chosen to spill this to, it was Tamra.
Speaking of Tamra, Lizzie could decide to to the Tamra route. She could decide to be a shrill, uncouth harpy, who changes allegiances like the wind blows. She has no real loyalty to anyone but herself. Even Vicki, who is supposed to be her person on the show, she routinely bad mouths and throws under the bus. No sooner has Shannon told Tamra about the e-mail she received from David, thinking that Tamra could give her some advice since Tamra went through a public, messy divorce, Tamra is divulging the information to Heather at their second make up lunch this season. I don't even want to talk about the actual "apology" part of the lunch. It was just Tamra playing the victim and Heather indulging her. As soon as Tamra's ego has been soothed sufficiently, the first thing she does is tell Heather to take it easy on Shannon because of the marital problems she's been having and the e-mail she received from David. Seriously. She sold Shannon out to her mortal enemy.
So, who should Lizzie emulate? Do you think it matters? Let me know in the comments.
