Catching Up with… The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Everybody Hates Lisa

The fourth season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills came to a close last night.  It was quite the ending with queen bee Lisa Vanderpump at odds with all the ladies except for newbies Joyce and Carlton.  The whole thing seems ridiculous and a tad staged to me.  I mean, not a big surprise that something on a reality show would be staged, but this whole vendetta seems like the the original ladies conspired to bring down Lisa because they are jealous.  So, what led up to and what went down when the ladies gathered together to celebrate the 100th anniversary party for the city of Beverly Hills.

This season was humming along much like you would expect it too.  Brandi hated Joyce.  Carlton hated Kyle.  It was Yolanda, Lisa and Brandi against everyone else.  Brandi was getting wasted, while Lisa mothered her.  It was sort of what you've come to expect from this franchise, but things starting to shift subtly when Lisa and Kyle decided to throw a joint birthday party for their husbands.  Brandi didn't get it.  Lisa and Kyle weren't friends anymore, why would they suddenly decide to throw this party.  You could sort of see the wheels turning in Brandi's head, you could also hear them grinding together because they see such little use.  The next thing viewers know, Brandi and Kyle are hiking together and Brandi is disclosing all these reservations that she has about her friendship with Lisa.  Reservations that up until now she had never verbalized or even hinted at.  Brandi was just vomiting things that the other women had said about her last year.  You're Lisa's mouthpiece.  Lisa is a puppet master.  Lisa is a master manipulator.  I wasn't sold.  It could be because that Brandi has had so much Botox that she can't really show any emotion at all.  Kyle, of course, eats this up, because she jumps at any chance to play the victim and this feeds into her complex.  She's forgotten last year when she abandoned Lisa to the cold embraces of Adrienne and Paul.

Yolanda is also upset with Lisa because Lisa was supposed to come to a "painting party" for Yo's daughter, Gigi.  Lisa cancelled at the last minute and this really riled up the Lady Foster.  I can understand why she was so upset.  What 18-year-old girl doesn't want a wall of tiles painted by women who are paid to be her mother's friends?

Jacqueline -- er, Joyce-- planned a trip for all the ladies minus Carlton to her home country of Puerto Rico.  It was here that the ladies decided to bring all their grievances to Lisa.  All at once.  So, this is how I think this all went down.  The women are jealous of Lisa.  Plain and simple.  She has her own spin-off.  She is the most popular Housewife with viewers.  Andy loves her.  She could literally take a shit on each one of her cast mates lawns and there is no way that she would get fired.  The other women are mad about it.  So, they want to knock her down a few pegs.  How flimsy are these stories they've concocted?  Let's look at everyone's.

Brandi seems upset because Lisa keeps shoving Scheana in her face.  Let's look at this logically.  Vanderpump Rules is a spin off of the show that Brandi is on.  Scheana had an affair with Brandi's husband, something that Brandi has no problem going over ad nauseum anytime that anyone says the word Eddie or any word with those combination of letters.  So, I doubt when Brandi and Lisa are just chilling during non-filming times, that Lisa invites Scheana over to shoot the shit and talk about the guy they both used to fuck.  I'm sure Andy Cohen suggested that they find ways for Brandi and Scheana to interact because that causes drama and that's what people want to see.  Viewers of the show realize this, so that is why they don't really buy into Brandi's "Lisa uses me to get viewers for her show" schtick.  It just doesn't make sense.

I'm also not buying Brandi as defender of Kyle Richards against tabloid planting Lisa.  Now, is there a chance that Lisa maybe jokingly suggested putting the tabloids in Brandi's beg.  I don't doubt it.  Here is where I think Lisa could save some face.  Just say that.  Apologize.  Who cares if you mean it or not?    Everyone knows you make jokes that everyone else takes terribly personally.  Instead, Lisa gets flustered at dinner, Ken tries to defend his wife, and Kim gets even more ridiculous than usual.

Lisa and Ken should not have left Puerto Rico.  They should have stayed and hashed things out.  I can understand why they left, but it didn't help anything.  It just made things more awkward when they went to the party.  I don't think that Lisa is completely innocent and I think if she lays her cards on the table she could have gotten past this with the other women, but I think her pride got in her way.

Also, Yolanda wants to know if Lisa is her real friend or her "Hollywood friend."  What is a Hollywood friend?  Is a Hollywood friend a friend who is your friend because you are both on the same reality show?  If so, then all these bitches are your Hollywood friend.

The party went down like you would expect it to.  All the ladies came to Lisa individually and again aired their grievances.  Lisa wasn't having it and she left the party on the outs with all the women.  This is going to be an intense three part reunion.  It seems like it is going to be everyone against Lisa, so yay?

So, what did you guys think?  Whose side are you on?  Lisa or the other ladies?  Do you think Brandi, Yolanda, and  Kyle have valid complaints?  What did you think of the end of the episode showing everyone prepping for the reunion?  Did you like it?  Do you think it's something they are going to start doing?  Let me know in the comments.
