The Real Housewives of Orange County Recap: Thanksgiving For My Real Friends, Fakes-giving For My Fake Friends

The Real Housewives of Orange County, Episode 3: "Fakes-giving, Fake Friends"

Well if we learned one thing this episode, it is that you never leave Vicki alone with a baby ever.  I'm not saying that Vicki is a bad grandma, but she is definitely a bad babysitter.  Baby Troy was basically left to his own devices while grandma got ready for "Fakes-giving."  What's Troy doing?  Oh he's just playing with cleaning supplies.  What's he up to now?  I think he went outside.  I mean, that's fine.  How about now?  Oh he's just dumping out everything in the pantry.  The little scamp!  Brianna can't get to Oklahoma soon enough.

The awkward dinner party is still in full effect.  I sort of admire Shannon's approach to being the new Housewife.  Why try to hide her issues?  She just puts them out there, warts and all.  I will say that maybe her get to know you dinner party is not the best place to do it, but it makes for some good TV. Dinner finally begins and the ladies try to have a pleasant dinner conversation but it devolves into everyone talking over each other.  Shannon asks how Tamra and Eddie like working together, they like it OK, then it turns into a conversation about how the couples met.  Heather tries to tell the story of how she met Terry, but it must be a boring story.  I only caught bits and pieces of it since Heather and Vicki wanted to talk to each other over it.  Heather just gives up and no one really notices it.

The divide between Heather, Tamra and Vicki continues to grow in this episode.  Vicki and Tamra automatically go into party mode with Tamra gleefully announcing that she is getting lit.  Heather is not interested.  She watches as the ladies and the men go out on the Beador basketball court.  I don't necessarily think that Heather is a "fun hater."  She just doesn't think that is fun.  I get it.  I'm kind of the same way.  It's not all about going crazy and "whooping it up."  When Heather deigns to tell Tamra that the pill Shannon gave her to prevent a hangover is not the morning after pill, Tamra flips her off behind her back and then complains abou the "stick in her ass," all of which Heahter overhears.

That is probably what motivates Heather to make an admittedly dick move.  Heather tells Eddie all about the conversation that Tamra had with her and Shannon at dinner.  She tells him about the baby and she totally tries to frame it like she is doing Eddie a favor and giving him a heads up, but she is totally doing it because she is pissed at Tamra.  It's super shady and neither lady is a big fan of the other one as the party ends.

Vicki also decides to throw a "Fakes-giving" for the ladies before they all depart for the holidays.  Fun times.

Vicki goes to visit Brianna and she drops the bomb(?) that she and Brooks are back together.  Brianna is not surprised, but she doesn't hold back with what she thinks.  When it comes to the Brooks situation, I am completely in Brianna's corner.  If Brianna says Brooks is horrible, then he is horrible. I'm not sure why Vicki continues to stick up for him and choose him over her daughter, but what can ya do?  We are also treated to our first Vicki Shrill Scream of the season when she fires back against Brianna's claim that Brooks is abusing her.  Vicki obviously feels like this accusation is on par with being accused of being in bed with two other people.  Brianna washes her hands of the whole situation, which is probably for the best.  I do hate to agree with Vicki ever, but she did have a bit of a point when she brought up Brianna getting eloped behind her back.  Ugh.  I feel dirty.

So, "Fakes-giving" is pretty lame.  Not much happens besieds the aforementioned bad babysitting, so let's skip ahead to after the holidays.  Heather's back from NYC and she agrees to meet Tamra to hash it out.

I will say that I'm pretty impressed with the way that Tamra handles this.  Normally when Tamra needs to confront someone there is lots of cursing, lots of slamming shit.  She is very calm with Heather and kind of lays it out there.  She is very clear.  She listens to what Heather has to say and it seems like the ladies end things in a good place.  It's nice to see people act like adults on this show, even if it is sort of anti-climactic in the end.

We are also sort of randomly introduced to this chick named Danielle who has invited the women to an ugly Christmas sweater for charity party.  More on her later.

So, what did you guys think?  This episode was kind of filler.  Here's hoping next episode and the intorduction of the other new Housewife, Lizzie, will liven things up a bit.
